Research FundingThe Peoria Cancer Center Foundation has currently received support for research in various types of cancer including:
General Research All funds not designated to a specific type of cancer, will be utilized for the area of greatest need within Illinois CancerCare’s research initiatives. The Peoria Cancer Center Foundation and Illinois CancerCare support clinical trials and cancer research for all types of cancer. As you do, we wish to see progress and hope in all areas of cancer research. Funds donated to the Peoria Cancer Center Foundation can by restricted to any cancer type simply by providing the information with your donation. Support ProgramsTrust in Hope Started by Illinois CancerCare employee Marti Williamson, the fund provides support to patients and their families during the holidays. Prepared Thanksgiving meals are delivered to families the day before Thanksgiving so they can enjoy Thanksgiving Day with their family without the stress of cooking. At Christmastime, families with a terminally ill parent are provided with gifts to brighten their holiday In 2009, 187 meals were delivered to needs based cancer patients and their families and 13 families with a total of 39 children were provided Christmas presents thanks to the support of donors and volunteers who contributed much needed funds. Patient Support Through support of over 35 volunteers, Illinois CancerCare provides that extra special touch to our patients and their families. Many cancer survivors or caregivers themselves, the volunteers lend a helping hand and ear to our patients. They also are able to provide them with needed items or special celebrations thanks to the generosity of donors to the Peoria Cancer Center Foundation. They are helped in a variety of ways through the volunteer fund including:
